NIKE – FALL ’10 COLLECTION – MONYCA

NIKE 6.0– MONYCA BYRNE WICKEY – Project Story
Huntington Beach, California

For this one, we hooked up with manamediagroup to make this clip rock the charts.

This project was part of a much bigger scope spanning across multiple countries capturing up and coming women athletes who are making headlines in their sport of choice.

This film was a tremendous pleasure to be a part of, but not without it’s challenges. Nike wanted a standalone film, which doesn’t seem to be a big deal, but two days to shoot, multiple locations each day and shooting tandem with a print campaign made it all too interesting.

We jumped on the first flight to LA where we shot Monyca at world renown – Huntington Beach. She can really turn on the charm. We shot with two Canon 5D MarkII’s. One, equipped with a long, sexy telephoto and the other with a fat, wide angle. We had an extremely tight workflow, as the schedule was rigorous and filled to the brim with objectives.

The result was a surprising success, thanks to Matt Nee’s poignant editing and flexible directing style. There’s not even a hint of photographer, Jeff Dey, or his crew anywhere. Nike was thoroughly impressed!

Monyca, by far is one of the coolest surfer chicks around. Not to mention, she’s not too hard on the eyes. We hope she continues to excel and rock the surf circuit, so we can spend more days cruising beaches, capturing beautiful images, and eating as much fish tacos as we can.

Good luck, Monyca!
